Fluorine is a vital non-metal element widely used in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Due to its unique electronegativity, electronic effects, and steric hindrance, fluorine atoms are often introduced into drug molecules to enhance metabolic stability, permeability, and bioavailability. Professor Bi Xihe from Northeast Normal University has developed two innovative solid fluorination reagents—trifluoroacetaldehyde N-trifluoromethylbenzenesulfonylhydrazone (TFHZ-Tfs) and N-(o-trifluoromethyl)dihydrazone fluoroacetaldehyde benzenesulfonylhydrazone (DFHZ-Tfs). These reagents serve as precursors to gaseous fluorination agents trifluoromethyldiazomethane and difluoromethyldiazomethane, allowing for precise control over their generation rates. This controlled release mechanism enhances safety, making storage and usage significantly more reliable.
