Asymmetric catalysis is one of the research hotspots in the field of organic synthesis. According to the type of catalyst, it can be divided into metal complex catalysis, organic small molecule catalysis and enzyme catalysis. Chiral ligands are crucial for metal complex catalysts, but most ligands have narrow application ranges, limiting their applications.
Feng Xiaoming's research group at Sichuan University has been committed to research on asymmetric catalysis for the past 20 years, designed flexible chiral nitrogen-oxygen ligands, and carried out systematic and in-depth research work. Currently, this type of ligand can form complexes with more than 20 metal ions (including main group metals, transition metals and rare earth metals), catalyze more than 50 types of asymmetric reactions, and provides a simple and efficient new way to synthesize chiral molecules. Professor Noyori, Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, commented that it “represents a class of dominant chiral ligands”.

Its advantages are as follows:
Strong broad spectrum: it can be used as an organic small molecule catalyst, or as a ligand to form a complex catalyst with a variety of metals, both showing excellent stereoselectivity;
Adjustable structure: both rigid and flexible, and can be modified with substituents according to reaction requirements;
Good solubility and stable properties: soluble in both polar and non-polar solvents, insensitive to water and air, and can react at room temperature.
